Gina Fredrickson

December 21, 1961 — September 30, 2007

On Sunday, September 30, 2007, Gina passed away at her home in Schertz. By her side was Tony, her devoted husband of 23 years and the love of her life. Born in Hawaii to Allen Kester and Elia Porter on December 21, 1961, she soon was joined by three sisters, Dina, Tina, and Serina, all of whom she will continue to watch over and protect from Heaven as she has all of her life. Gina graduated from Samuel Clemens High School in 1980. Working in retail, she soon realized she needed to fulfill her childhood dream of becoming a teacher. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education and Elementary Education in 1992 from Our Lady of the Lake University. She dedicated herself to Special Education for 14 years with Northside ISD and Fort Sam Houston ISD. Her enthusiasm to make a difference in the lives of children, parents, and peers led her to attain her Master of Education degree in School Administration from Trinity University in 2004. She joined Lackland Elementary in 2006 as the Assistant Principal and, in that school year, created positive momentum that will continue throughout the years to come. Gina was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2004, but her desire to continue her education remained strong as she was making plans to earn her Doctorate degree. Ginas pursuit of self-improvement was unwavering during her courageous battle with breast cancer. Her spirit of encouragement and inspiration will continue to live on through her many friends, family members, and extended families at LISD and FSHISD. It is with their love, faith, and support that we will celebrate Ginas life on Saturday, October 6th, at 1:00 p.m. at Longs Creek Community Church, 14515 OConnor Road, San Antonio, Texas 78247. Memorial donations may be made to Texas Wings at 7500 Highway 90 West, Building 2, Suite 240, San Antonio, Texas 78227 or online at www.texaswings.org.
