Gerald "Gerry" Auerbach, 101, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2025, at his son’s home in Round Rock, Texas. Born on July 13, 1924, in Passaic, New Jersey. He was preceded in death by his wife Lucille, brother Herman, mother Helen, and father Louis. He is survived by his son Tony (Rita), niece Erica, grand-children David (Gina), Adam (Riley), Alexander (Alexandra), Kianna and Rianna, and great-grand-children Michael, Madison, and Willa. Gerry lived a remarkable life marked by service, adventure, and enduring love.
A proud veteran of World War II, he served with distinction as a navigator on B-29 bombers stationed on Saipan. He flew numerous missions over Japan, including the Tokyo fire raids. After the war, he continued his military career in the United States Air Force, becoming a pilot and participating in the Berlin Airlift. Over his two decades of service, he flew many aircraft—his favorite being the B-47—demonstrating both skill and dedication to his country.
Following his retirement from the Air Force, Gerry embarked on a second career as a commercial and corporate pilot. His aviation journey took him across continents: he flew for Saudia Airlines and lived in Saudi Arabia for several years. After returning briefly to the United States, he accepted a position as Chief Pilot for the Saudi Bin Laden Group and once again made his home overseas. These years afforded him the opportunity to travel extensively throughout Europe and the Middle East—a chapter of life filled with exploration and cultural discovery.
Gerry was known by those around him as kind-hearted, friendly, generous, honest, and deeply trustworthy. His warmth left an impression wherever he went. Above all else, he cherished his beloved wife Lucille—described as the love of his life—and now joins her once more.
A life so fully lived leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him and serve as a lasting tribute to a life defined by courage, compassion, and devotion.
