Master Gunnery Sergeant (MGySgt) George Wilks, United States Marine Corps (Retired), beloved father, Marine, and steady foundation for his family, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2025, surrounded by those who loved him deeply. He was born on March 30, 1948.
George lived a life marked by honor, discipline, and unwavering commitment. He faithfully served his country as a Master Gunnery Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps, embodying the core values of courage, loyalty, and devotion both in and out of uniform. His leadership, strength, and integrity left a lasting impact on those who had the privilege to serve alongside him.
A man of quiet strength, George showed love not through many words but through consistent presence, hard work, and sacrifice. He valued family above all else and found joy in simple, meaningful moments—conversation, routine, and time spent with those he cherished. His humor and gentle heart brought comfort and steadiness to everyone around him.
George is survived by his children, Kimberly Walker Dennis and Kevin Wilks, whose unwavering care brought him comfort through his final season. He is also survived by his precious grandchildren and his youngest sister, Darlene Hall, each of whom held a special place in his heart.
He is preceded in death by his cherished wife, Judy Ann Wilks, with whom he now shares eternal peace. He also reunites with his parents and two sisters who went before him.
A visitation will be held on Monday, December 15, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Schertz Funeral Home.
Funeral services will follow on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at 11:00 AM, with a committal service and full military honors at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Serenity Hospice, including Melissa and Yolanda, for their compassion, dignity, and unwavering care during George’s final months.
