Francisco Vasquez

March 12, 1936 — May 16, 2007

MSgt. Francisco Vasquez went to be with the Lord on May 16, 2007. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Janie; children, Mary T. Longley, Francisco Vasquez, Jr. & Diane M. Pastrano; grandsons, Nicholas Stone Vasquez & Jovani Rue Pastrano and loving pet Tuesday . Francisco was a very loving and caring husband and father. His devotion to Janie was as fresh as from the day that they met. He was still as smitten and in love with her as she was with him. Janie cared and took care of him throughout the eight years of his illness. She was always by his side and always with love and total devotion. Francisco was a proud and faithful military Air Force soldier. He entered the service in 1956 and retired in 1980. Francisco earned and received several ribbons and medals including the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry cross with palm, Republic of Vietnam Campaign medal and several others. His country was his pride and he served it well. Dedication and honor was what he felt about his military days and he carried that for the rest of his life. After he retirement, Francisco went to work for Vara Chevrolet where he enjoyed the friendship and camaraderie of his employer, co-workers & several customers. He enjoyed several happy years here. The family would like to thank all of the wonderful doctors, nurses and all hospital staff at BAMC & Wilford Hall for their endless effort to see our dad be given as many extra years as possible. These great people cannot be thanked enough for all the hard and tireless efforts to give our father back to his family. Our Fathers journey has ended here on earth and begins a new and peaceful journey with our Lord where he now enjoys days without pain & sickness, only peace and joy. You will be greatly missed but never too far that we cant see you. A Rosary will be held at 9:00 AM on Monday, May 21, 2007 followed by Mass being celebrated at 9:30 AM at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 8134 Blanco Road, San Antonio, Texas 78216. Burial will follow at 11:15 AM, with full military honors, at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
