Francis "Fritz" J Baker, of Cibolo TX., went peacefully to be with the Lord on July, 15, 2026 at the age of 88.

Fritz was born on December 8, 1937 in Altoona, Pennsylvania, son of the late William and Marie (Leap) Baker. He was the oldest of their 12 children, 9 boys and 3 girls and they grew up in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania. As the oldest, he helped with his siblings as well as ran a paper route that the brothers all took over as they aged. He graduated from high school in 1956 and answered the call of service by joining the US Air Force. He was always proud that 7 of the Bakers served in the military for a combined total of 125 years. Their hometown dedicated a bridge in their honor with the name of The Baker Brothers Memorial Bridge.

While serving in Japan, he met, fell in love, and married Hana Ishikawa. As luck would have it, his brother Tom happened to also be serving in Japan and was able to be his best man. Fritz was a Weapons control specialist, working on airplanes and later became a Computer operator supervisor. Military life took the 2 to many different places but they ended their military career at Randolph Air Force base where he retired as a TSgt with 22 ½ years completed.

Civilian life brought on a few different occupations but eventually, Fritz opened up his own business, Fritz Handyman Service, which kept him busy when he wasn't helping Hana manage Country Lane Mobile Estates where they lived. They made many friends there, to include Chuck and Becky who would later become close friends who helped Fritz deal with living the rest of his life without Hana. There were trips to Drs appointments, often stopping for his favorite burger at Whataburgers or monthly visits to Hana's grave to leave her favorite red roses. They included Fritz at their parties with their children and grandchildren, where Fritz was reminded of growing up with his siblings. Fritz enjoyed assembling 1,000 piece puzzles from White Mountain Puzzle company, his favorite because they are made in the good ole USA. He started looking for a senior living facility and was very happy that they built one in Cibolo, close to Chuck and Becky. He was active until almost the end and could be found every morning making a lap around the outside of the buildings or his weekly walk to Walmart across the street, often to get the newest flavor of Blue Bell ice cream.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Brooks of Cibolo where he spent the last 6 years. He became especially close to Deshanda who he lovingly called 'Big Momma'. She was at his side until the end.

Left behind with memories are his siblings Patty Baker of Pennsylvania, Jim (Gail) Baker of Florida, Teresa Baker of Delaware, and Joe Baker (Patsy) of Pennsylvania and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind good friends Chuck and Becky Olson and their family.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 44 years, Hana Baker who he missed dearly and even spoke of her his last day, his parents, and his siblings Edward, Charlie, Tom, Peggy, Phil, Ray, and John.

Family and friends are invited to share memories and honor Fritz's life at Schertz Funeral Home on Monday August 3rd, from 5:00pm-8:00pm with the rosary beginning at 7:00pm. The funeral service will be held at Schertz Funeral Home on Tuesday August 4th at 12:00 noon with a graveside service at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery where he will be buried with full military honors.
