Frances Yolanda
Trevino
Apr 3, 1940 — May 1, 2026
Frances Yolanda Trevino, lovingly known as Wife, Mom, Grandma, Great-Grandma, Sister, Aunt, Godmother, matriarch, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2026, at the age of 86.
Born on April 3, 1940, in Kingsville, Texas, Frances was the daughter of Jose Hilario Saldaña and Angelica Garcia Saldaña. She was lovingly raised by her maternal grandparents, Andres and Margarita Garcia, who embraced her as their own and helped shape the kind, caring, and selfless woman she would become.
Frances spent most of her life in San Antonio, where she became the heart and true matriarch of her family—a guiding presence whose strength, wisdom, and unconditional love anchored generations. She led with quiet grace and a giving spirit, always placing her family’s needs before her own and ensuring everyone felt seen, supported, and deeply loved.
She had a deep love for life’s simple joys, especially cheering on the Texas Longhorns and the San Antonio Spurs. She also faithfully followed local high school teams, including the MacArthur Brahmas, Clemens, and Steele, always knowing their scores and celebrating their victories as if they were her own.
Frances loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild immensely. She was everyone’s biggest cheerleader, always proud of their accomplishments, big and small. Her faith was unwavering, and she prayed daily and fervently for each member of her family. That steady love and prayerful devotion was who Frances was at her core.
Faith remained the foundation of her life, giving her strength, comfort, and peace through every season.
She shared 62 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Theodore “Ted” G. Trevino, who deeply loved her and affectionately called her “Franny.” Their marriage was a true example of lifelong devotion. Married in the church on May 31, 1964, they remained faithfully by each other’s side through all of life’s seasons—in sickness and in health—building a life grounded in love, faith, and family.
She is survived by her husband, Ted Trevino; her children, Teddy Trevino (Deborah Trevino), Margaret Carlin, Melissa Hill (David Hill), and Martin Trevino (Monica Trevino); her ten grandchildren, Megan Paine, Justin Jones, Beau Owen, Zachary Trevino, Sarah Trevino, Daetren Hill, Marty Trevino, Devon Hill, Jocelyn Hill, and Maddie Trevino; and her cherished great-grandchild, Elijah Hill.
Frances is also survived by her siblings, Tommie Gilliam (Dan) and Frank Saldaña (Elena); her nieces and nephews; and many extended family members and dear friends who will miss her deeply.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her maternal grandparents; her brothers, Jose Saldaña, Jr. and Alonzo Saldaña; and her son-in-law, Scott Carlin.
Frances will be remembered for her loving heart, gentle spirit, and the way she embodied the true role of matriarch—holding her family together through love, tradition, and unwavering devotion. Her legacy will continue to live on in all who knew and loved her.
A Visitation for Frances will be held on Monday, May 18, 2026 from 5:00-8:00 PM with a Recitation of the Holy Rosary to begin at 7:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church in San Antonio, Texas at 12:00 PM. Interment will follow Mass at Holy Cross Cemetery at 2:00 PM.
