Frances Ida
Muehl
April 1, 1929 – March 31, 2026
Frances I. Muehl, age 96, of Marion, Texas, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2026, at Avir (formerly Autumn Winds Nursing Home), following a long and courageous struggle with arthritis.
Frances was born April 1, 1929, on a farm near Selma, Texas, to Catherine and Valentine Hartmann. She grew up rooted in faith, family, and hard work - values that carried her throughout her life.
She married Edwin R. Muehl, and together they built a life centered on family and dedication. Frances attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help School and later pursued business studies in college. Over the years, she worked as a housekeeper, a textile mill in New Braunfels, and as a secretary at Randolph Air Force Base.
Frances had a deep love for gardening, which brought her both joy and peace. She found happiness in the simple things - nurturing her plants, spending time with family, and creating a warm and welcoming home.
She is survived by her son, John William Muehl; her grandsons, John David Muehl and Raymond Carl Muehl; and her great- grandsons, Bo Muehl, Flynn Muehl, and Riley Muehl. She is also survived by her sister, Lydia McIntire.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edwin R. Muehl; her brothers Hilmar Hartmann and Othmar Hartmann; her sisters, Lilian Hartmann, Annie Klar, and Regina Ruetz; and her daughter-in-law, Connie Muehl.
A Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 19,2026 at 4:00 P.M. at Schertz Funeral Home, with a Rosary to follow at 6:00 P.M. Interment will take place on Monday, April 20, 2026, at 10:00 A.M. at Holy Cross Cemetery.
