Floyd Donahue, Jr.

February 26, 1936 — January 5, 2026

Cibolo

Our father was given his last duty assignment to receive his angel’s wings. Chief Master Sergeant Floyd Thomas Donahue Jr. received orders for his last duty assignment on January 5th 2026. The Orders stated at the age of 89 “Job well done return to Heaven” , Depart Cibolo Texas using best available transportation to your finial destination…..

Floyd Thomas Donahue Jr. Otherwise known as Tom or Tommy was born in Sweden Valley Pennsylvania on February 26, 1936. Home town Hornell New York.

Your mother Mary Ellen and Father Floyd Thomas Donahue Sr. along with your wife Rose Marie will be greeting you to escort you to your pinning on ceremony. Others in attendance will be your grandparents and brothers and sisters along with all other family members and military co-workers who have preceded you to their finial destination.

Two of his favorite stories of childhood mischief both Halloween pranks were when he and his friends took down the neighborhood clotheslines. Alas they were caught in the act and had to put all of them back up. His second story they were never caught until I tell you the story. His high school was having a Halloween dance and there was a wagon full of hay on display in front of the school. He and his friends decided to disassemble the wagon, carry it up (2 stories) to the roof and reassemble it there along with all the hay bails. We still don’t know when they took the hay wagon down from the roof.

Dad joined the Air Force after he graduated high school . Starting on July 26, 1954 he honorably served his country for 28 years and 8 Months. When he retired from the Air Force he served his country again for another 13 years as a DOD civilian doing the same job he did in the Air Force.

His period of active duty service accomplishments were many. He served his country as a personnel resource manager (automated functional applications analyst). He effected everyone in the Air Force in some small way because he managed the system that tracked and generated Air Force PCS assignments at Randolph Air Force Base. He was also offered an assignment to become Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force but turned it down because he was was a family man and there would be no time for family with an assignment of that nature.

He was awarded for his many accomplishments to include: Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, NCO professional Military Education Ribbon, Army Good Conduct Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal with Star, Vietnam Service Medal with 2 stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with palm. Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, Air Force Presidential Unit Citation, Air Force Commendation Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with 4 Oak Leaf Clusters.

Dad was an active bowler and passed on his love of bowling to his family where is great grandson Wallace is taking up the reins on his way to state championship. As a devout catholic his faith was strong, in fact when his grandson Chris asked him to officiate his wedding Dad jumped in with both feet and and became a state licensed official so that he could legally marry Chris and Katy. When his grandson Josh wanted to become catholic and take his faith to a deeper level ,Dad became a catechumen and sponsored Josh into the church.

`During his time on earth he and mom raised 5 children. Mary Ann Venteicher, Jim Donahue, Clara Wagner, Tina Even, Joe Donahue. All of us kids blessed dad with 19 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren. They were the light of his life. Every time one of his grandchildren or great grandchildren walked into the room his face lit up! We know he is proud of each and every one of us.
