Felix Heusinger

Felix Doran Heusinger, age 81 of Marion Texas, went to be with the Lord on Monday January 11th, 2021. He was a beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, businessman, and rancher. The grandson of Edward W. Heusinger and Teo Dolinda Bruni and the son of Edward F. G. Heusinger and Rose Marie Gregg he was a descendant of the original Canary Island settlers of San Antonio. He graduated Alamo Heights High School and attended Saint Louis University where he was awarded a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. After graduation, he returned home to San Antonio to help run the family business. Felix embarked on a 25-year career helping to grow the prominent fourth generation San Antonio Heusinger Hardware family business. He retired as Vice President in 1978 at the age of 45. He proceeded to live his dream as a rancher building the Rafter H Ranch in Marion Texas, where he raised beef cattle and competed on cutting horses well into his 60’s. A devout Catholic, he served as a Eucharistic minister at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Marion Texas.

After three months of courtship in his early 20’s, Felix spent 58 years married to his loving wife, Mary Jane Kremenek Heusinger, who was by his side upon is passing. He was preceded in death by his Mother, Father, Brother (Edward Heusinger Jr.) and daughter Christine Heusinger Davila. He is survived by his Wife, Sister Anna Louise Heusinger Bernhart and husband David Bernhart , Daughter Therese Heusinger Carter and husband Chris Carter, Son Stephen Heusinger and wife Lori Heusinger , Daughter Janet Heusinger Sthele and husband Chad Sthele , Grandchildren Evan Davila, Erin Davila Rawlinson, Jared Sthele, Travis Sthele, Grace Heusinger, and Lindsay Heusinger, and great-grandson Emmitt Rawlinson.

Passionate in his ways and fierce to take on any of life’s challenges, Felix passed after a three-year fight with kidney failure, eventually succumbing to a heart attack on the morning of January 11, 2020.

Visitation is being held at Schertz Funeral Home, Schertz, Texas from 3:00PM – 7:00PM on Monday January 18th. The Funeral Mass is scheduled to be held at 11:00AM on Tuesday, January 19th at The Church of the Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Schertz, Texas, followed by Internment at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church Cemetery. Memorials in honor of Felix can be made to South Texas Pregnancy Center or SAM Ministries, two of his most favored charities in his efforts to help those in need.
