Fane Carol Mackillip

December 12, 1945 — November 1, 2025

Fane Carol MacKillip Franke, 79, of Schertz, Texas, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2025. She was born on December 12, 1945, in Oneonta, New York, to Benjamin Carter MacKillip and Edna Alberta Eustice MacKillip.

Family and friends will celebrate her life at a Memorial Service to be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Schertz Funeral Home in Schertz, Texas.

Fane graduated from Oneonta University in New York as a Registered Nurse. She began her nursing career at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tucson, Arizona, later moving to San Antonio to work as a Research Nurse with the Brady Green Clinical Research Center. She concluded her nursing career serving students at Corbett Junior High School in Schertz, Texas.

Fane loved traveling with her lifelong college friends and continued their tradition through weekly Zoom meetings. She shared a special lifelong friendship with Dale and cherished many other close friendships from her school years. An avid collector, Fane gathered everything from artwork and paintings to stamps. She also enjoyed crocheting and sewing throughout her life. Among her proudest accomplishments, she had a star named after her and earned her pilot’s license. A devoted Dallas Cowboys fan, Fane’s greatest joy was her family.

Fane married Charles A. Franke in Las Vegas on June 29, 1993, gaining seven wonderful children through their union.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles A. Franke; her parents, Benjamin and Edna MacKillip; and several other close family members.

She is survived by her seven children — Regina Mokry, Diane Pardee, Denise Elbel, Charmaine (John) Blackburn, Rudy Franke, Chuck (Sharon) Franke, and Valerie Jones; her brother, Garre (Joanne) MacKillip; twelve grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Schertz Funeral Home, as well as to their family and friends, for their love and support during this difficult time.
