Evelyn Zuercher

November 12, 1928 — January 17, 2022

Evelyn Irma Zuercher passed away on January 17, 2022 at the age of 93. She was born on November 12, 1928 in Bexar Co., Texas to parents, Daniel and Elise (Voigt) Zuercher.

Evelyn lived on the farm she was born at for most of her life. There she had cows and chickens. Each cow was named. She enjoyed planting a garden every year and had numerous pot plants that she tended to. In her younger years she loved to embroidery. She always loved listening to music, having made many lists of songs that she liked. Over the last years she had several dogs and a cat that she was very fond of. She enjoyed having her grandchildren over. When her great grandchildren came along, she loved spending time with them. They were the light of her life. Evelyn always made sure to prepare a favorite food item for each family member when their birthday came around.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Elise (Voigt) Zuercher; sisters, Hilda Bauer (Arnold), Eugenia Zuercher, Irma Rohde (Albert), Leona Rappmund (Charlie) and Elsa Rappmund (Erman); brother, Elton Zuercher (Otillie). She is survived by her daughter, Sherry Rakowitz (Jerome); granddaughter, Dawn Bierstedt (Johnathan); grandsons; Shawn Rakowitz and Cory Rakowitz (Sheri); great granddaughters, Brenley Bierstedt, Maezey Bierstedt and Emmaline Rakowitz; and great grandson, Jameson Rakowitz along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Visitation will be held from 5:00PM – 7:30PM on Monday, January 24, 2022 at Schertz Funeral Home Chapel. The Funeral Service will be held at 10:00AM on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at St. John Lutheran Church in Marion, Texas with Rev. Paul Theiss officiating. Interment will follow at St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Marion, Texas.

A Reception will be held at St. John Fellowship Hall following the interment.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the owner and staff at Pipestone Assisted Living and Guiding Light Hospice for their wonderful care.
