Obituary

It is with deep love and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Elvis Jerome Batiste, age 65. He was born on August 30, 1960, in Pineville, LA and was a resident of Schertz, TX until his passing on April 15, 2026.

Elvis is survived by his loving wife, Beverly, his two sons, Rashaun (Callie) and Shannon, as well as his five grandchildren, Kaiyn, Amaya, Cole, Cameron, and Corinne. He is also survived by his brothers Robert (Okie) and Ronnie (Nancy); his sisters, Ommie, Irlean, Adine (Dwight), and Edith (Anthony); as well as his aunts, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and beloved friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Leonard Batiste Sr. and Frances Jacobs Batiste; his brother Leonard Batiste Jr.; and his chosen family Edward and Diana Ramirez.

Elvis was a retired Sergeant First Class from the United States Army. After his retirement from the Army, he continued in the Civil Service sector for over 22 years until his official work retirement from Camp Stanley in 2020.

Elvis had a passion for the simple things in life. He was an avid San Antonio Spurs fan and the family’s best sports critic, ensuring everyone knew his opinions about their favorite teams. He had a deep appreciation for cars and was happy to lend his knowledge, advice, and assistance to others. He also loved fishing, watching movies, and researching the newest electronics. Above all these things, Elvis’ passion for his family and friends was unwavering, strong, and supportive; for these reasons, he will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.

To honor the life of Elvis, a Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, from 9AM to 10:30AM at Agape Christian Church, 14303 Judson Road, San Antonio, TX 78233. A celebration of life will follow the visitation from 10:30AM to noon. Burial will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 1:15PM.

The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to all the friends, neighbors, extended family, and church family who brought food, offered prayers, and provided comforting support to the family during this difficult time.

Schertz Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
