Edward Aron Venglar was born in Vanderbilt, Texas, on September 14, 1942, to Frank Venglar and Mary Stropek, and passed away at age 83 in San Antonio, Texas, on May 18, 2026. After graduating from Industrial High School in 1960 he worked at Slavik’s Electronics in Edna for several years and then moved to San Antonio to work as an electronics technician. During this time he met and later married the love of his life, Carolyn Joyce Krueger, in Seguin, Texas, on July 4, 1964 at St. James Church. Edward joined the US Army in 1965 and their first son, Jeffrey Edward, was born in December of that year. After several moves around the country he left the Army and began a 35-year civil service career at Kelly Air Force Base. A second son, Steven Paul, was born in May 1969. Soon after he earned an Associate’s Degree from San Antonio College as well electronics certifications from DeVry Institute. Edward was an active Men’s Club member at St. Joan of Arc Church in Kirby, Texas and then a Eucharistic minister at Church of the Good Shepherd when the family relocated to Schertz, Texas in 2006. He also served as a Knight in the Knights of Columbus, Council 6358. Edward will always be remembered for his steady mind and hand, kindness with his family, and care of his beloved wife Carolyn in her later years. He is survived by his son, Steven Venglar and wife Nicole, and his grandchildren, Sean (Fatima) and Eric Venglar; and his siblings, Barbara Harper and Milton Venglar. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 28, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a rosary to be recited at 7:00PM, at the Schertz Funeral Home. The Funeral service will be held on Friday, May 29, 2026, at 11:30 AM, at Church of the Good Shepherd. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
