Edith Wells

February 21, 1927 — November 10, 2020

Edith Onita Wells, age 93, entered into rest November 10 th 2020. She was preceded in death by her parents Ruby Nell Mitchell and Charley McKinley Sharp, and her husband of 40 years, Wilbur Dean Wells. She is survived by her son, Michael Milligan; her daughter, Vickie Kabanek; grandchildren, Joseph Kabanek, Dawn Rose, and Jared Kabanek; and her great-grandchildren, Gabrielle, Megan, Kaelee, Stephen, Dallas, and Rylan.

Edith was born February 21 st 1927 on a farm in Elgin, Arkansas. As a young girl, she picked cotton to raise money to buy her clothes. She picked more cotton faster than her brothers and sisters, which sometimes got her in hot water with them. She was a motivated woman, working hard throughout her life to achieve her goals.

She was a wartime wife with her first husband, Cleo, during both World War II and the Korean Conflict. Afterwards, she settled in the St. Louis, Missouri area where she lived until moving to Schertz, Texas in 1994 to be near her daughter and grandchildren. She found much joy in her grandchildren and later, her great-grandchildren. Her ready smile and genuine laughter expressed her support and love for every member of her family. Her family was so proud of this fierce, independent woman, wife, and mother. She was a friend to everyone she met but held her own in any situation. She and Wilbur were members of the North East Bible Church in Garden Ridge. Her last years were spent in Autumn Winds Retirement Lodge in Schertz, where she continued to make friends and enjoy the company of others. Edith and her bright smile will be missed by family and friends.
