Eddie Maurice Nixon

Eddie Maurice Nixon, 91, of Schertz, Texas passed away on December 20, 2023, when his heart stopped, a complication of dementia.

Eddie was born September 29, 1932, to Norvin and Loula Myrtle in Fredericksburg, Texas. After Eddie graduated from Mason High School in 1952, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. Three years later Eddie was offered the status of Sergeant, which he declined and was honorably discharged to return home to Texas.

In 1957, Eddie married Connie Lynn, also a Mason native, and went on to have 2 children, Tammy Rene, and Deanna Lynn and remained married for 66 years.

Eddie’s training and experience in the Marine Corp gave him the foundation to pursue and become the managing supervisor of mechanical engineers at American Can Company until his retirement in 1981.

After a few years of contracting Eddie spent his time in his passions of gardening, grafting and propagating plants, bird watching, and reading any chance he had.

Eddie was preceded in death by siblings Geneva Ovella, Leo Anderson, Rayford Lowell, and Norvin Oney and is survived by wife and children Connie Lynn, Tammy Rene and Deanna Lynn and siblings Jerry Dale, and Lenna Zell. Eddie is also survived by his grandchildren Hanna Nicole, and Trey Fulton, and four great-grandchildren: Aidan Fulton, Payton Jade, Morgan Grace, and Layton Wayne.

Memorial services will be held at the Schertz Funeral Home in Schertz Texas on January 10, 2024 at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to any Alzheimer’s association.
