Dorothy Sofia Hracha, a long-time resident of Schertz, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on February 6, 2026, just weeks shy of her 100th birthday.
Dorothy was born on March 29,1926 in Weimer, Texas, to Jim and Christina Slavik, Dorothy grew up with a foundation of faith and family. On February 11, 1946, she married the love of her life, Rudolph E Hracha in LaGrange, Texas. Together, they built a life defined by devotion and hard work.
While Dorothy found joy in the rhythm of a good dance and the excitement of gambling trips with her family, her greatest passion was the people she loved. And her sense of humor, her laughter, and her radiant smile are what the people loved about her and will be dearly missed.
After raising her five children, she dedicated many years to looking after most of her 14 grandchildren, leaving a lasting legacy of care across generations. She was the matriarch in every sense of the word-a steady, loving presence who enjoyed her years with her family and faithful dog, Teddy, by her side.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rudolph. Her legacy continues through her five children: Gloria Hunter and husband Curtis; Carolyn Franz and husband Kurt; Rudy Hracha and wife Debbie; Helen Yount and husband Randy; Donna Bierschwale and husband Johnny. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, 9 great-great-grandchildren with three more great-great grandchildren expected to arrive this spring and summer.
