Donna Rhode

Donna Arlene Rhode, 90, of Schertz, Texas, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 9, 2022.

Donna was born on July 24, 1932, in Whitefish, Montana, to parents Lloyd R. Christman and Verna (Clark) Christman. After graduating from Balboa High School in San Francisco, California, she married her first husband, was blessed with her only daughter Pam. In 1969, she married her second husband, Dusty Rhode. They lived in a variety of locations, including California, Washington, and Arizona.

Donna enjoyed each location in which they lived and made friends in each new place, sure to find those with similar passions for art and music. The couple was happily married for 40 years. After Dusty passed in 2009, she moved to Schertz to be closer to her family. She established a new life and became involved with multiple groups with which she could paint her beautiful artwork, play her guitar, and sing with her friends.

She made close friends throughout her life in multiple locations and situations, was loved by all, and will be missed by many.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, Henry (Dusty) Rhode, as well as her brothers Donald (Swede) Christman Jr. and Ray Christman.

She is survived by her daughter Pamela Vandermey-Collins (husband Rip Collins), granddaughters Holly Vandermey Ouellette (husband Jason Graves) and Amber Vandermey, great-granddaughters Megan and Mia Ouellette and Jillian and Layla Graves, great-grandson Dalton Roland, sisters Roxie Geist and Ormenta Kruchko, as well as nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends that became family throughout her life.

A funeral service will be held at Schertz Funeral Home, 2217 FM 3009, Schertz, TX 78154, on August 26th, 2022, at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to an animal shelter of choice to honor her loyal companion and canine best friend, Bobo.
