Donna Grohman

September 21, 1956 — November 8, 2021

Donna K. Grohman was called home by the Lord on November 8, 2021, granting her rest at the conclusion of a courageous four-year battle with metastatic breast cancer.  She was 65 years old.

Donna was born to the late Bernard and Pauline Dylla Bienek in San Antonio, Texas on September 21, 1956.  She graduated from St Gerard High School in 1974, where she was a member of the Royalette high kick team.  Donna’s work life spanned many years and various roles along the way, including cashiering at HEB, running her own pet salon “Scissors and Suds”, assistant building manager at GPM Life, principal’s assistant at St Peter & Paul School, and most recently as an office manager at theKFordgroup.

Donna is survived by her two sons, Richard Grohman, Jr, along with his wife Meghan, and Jason Grohman, along with his wife Amanda and their three children, Ethan, Abbie, and Ellie, whom she lovingly referred to as “my little sweeties”.  Even on the most challenging days through the duration of her battle with cancer, Donna’s grandchildren were able to bring a smile to her face, laughter to her voice, warmth to her heart, and strength to carry on.

Among her favorite activities over the years were traveling to new places and extensive outdoor hikes.  Though she passed far too soon in her retirement years, Donna’s life contained an amount of sightseeing and experiences that would make most of us envious. Additionally, she held a firm conviction that fine chocolate should not be eaten, rather it was meant to be savored.  Above all, what was most dearly cherished to Donna were moments shared with her friends and family, many of whom were by her side during her final days.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Oakwood Church on Monday, Nov 22, 2021, at 3:00pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial donation to the American Cancer Society at cancer.org.
