Densford Zimmerman

October 15, 1936 — August 12, 2021

Densford Wayne Zimmerman of Schertz, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, August 12, 2021, at the age of 84. He was born on October 15, 1936, in Moulton, Texas.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Kathryn (Schuster) Zimmerman and daughters Terrie Gibson and Brenda Willeford (Eddie); grandchildren Allen Gibson (Bailey), Stacie Simpson (Ryan), Dylan and Adriana Willeford; great grandchildren McKenzie, Weston, Warrick, Braelynn, Brynlee Gibson; sister Maxine Otto (Lou), Oscar Zimmerman (Carol), Kenneth Zimmerman (Mary), sisters-in-law JoElla Heinsohn, Jeanette Bailey (Larry), brothers-in-law Wallace Kraft (Karen) and Gerald Schuster, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loving relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Edna (Kuehn) Zimmerman, sister Audrey Hutton, brothers-in-law, James Hutton, Roland Heinsohn and Robert Kraft, nephews David and Jeff Knight.

Densford will be remembered as a loving Husband, Daddy, Popo, and Brother who will be dearly missed. He loved his country and was a very proud veteran who served in the Navy for 6 years beginning at the young age of 20. Zim retired in 1997 after working 35+ years at Champion International (Nationwide Papers) as an Assistant Warehouse Manager. He loved family gatherings and eating apple pie with ice cream. Densford liked to fish, barbeque, and watch sports and in the later years, enjoyed going to Schertz Senior Center to play poker and was a frequent winner!

A warm thank you to all the doctors, nurses, rapid response team and staff that cared for him at Methodist Hospital.

Visitation is Tuesday, August 24th from 5:00 to 9:00 pm and funeral service is Wednesday, August 25th at 9:00 am, both at Schertz Funeral Home. Interment to follow at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Allen Gibson, Dylan Willeford, Ryan Simpson, Darren Heinsohn, Mark Heinsohn, and Mason Kraus.
