Deborah Courtney

January 8, 1951 — April 19, 2021

Deborah “Debbi, Deb” Kathleen Shaw Courtney, 70, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away on April 19, 2021 and will be buried in Neosho, MO.

Deborah was born in Roswell, New Mexico on January 8, 1951. She grew up in a military family and moved to a different state/country almost every year of her childhood. However, after being stationed with her family at Kirtland AFB, NM, she finally called Albuquerque home.

In 1982, Deborah, her husband, Douglas, to whom she married on April 25, 1981, and two daughters moved to San Antonio, Texas to be closer to family. Deborah spent years working in the dental field. She was extremely smart; reflected by membership in Mensa, an avid reader, knowledgeable about current events, liked sewing and gardening, and loved to travel. But Deborah’s greatest joy of all was being a grandmother. Deborah always had the best intentions and will be missed by all who loved her.

Deborah was preceded in death by her father Lauren L Shaw Jr, her mother Mary E Hayes Shaw, her sister Patricia “Patti” Shaw, and husband H. Douglas Courtney.

Deborah is survived by her sisters and brother; Karen Shaw, Lauren “Skip” Shaw, and Janet Pollock, her daughters, Collette McQuiston, her husband Eric McQuiston, and Katrina Jones, grandsons, Taylor Douglas Jones, and Kacey McQuiston, wife Karen McQuiston, and granddaughter Meagan McQuiston, several nieces and nephews, and their children.
