CMSgt. Kenneth Henry Schmitt, U.S. Air Force, Retired, age 74 of Universal City, passed away on July 22, 2007. He was born to Willy and Rose (Nienhaus) Schmitt on March 5, 1933 in Auburn, Iowa. During his twenty-three years of military service, Chief Schmitt, a veteran of the Korean War, served as Senior Air Force Enlisted Advisor, Joint United States Military Aid Group, Greece, and as Command Sergeant Major of Allied Forces Southern Europe. He also served for many years with the U.S. Air Force Recruiting Service. Following retirement, he and his wife operated Randolph Field Realty in Universal City, Texas for twenty years. Kenneth is survived by his wife of 51 years, Aileen Schmitt, Universal City; daughter, Lori A. Schmitt, Schertz, owner of Regency Mortgage Services; son, Michael N. Schmitt, a professor at the United States Naval War College, and wife, Lorraine, Newport, RI; and granddaughter, Danielle K. Schmitt, San Antonio, a student at Trinity University. Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, July 25, 2007 at Schertz Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 8:45 AM on Thursday, July 26, 2007 at Randolph Air Force Base Chapel 1 with Reverend Donald C. Ofsdahl officiating. Interment, with full military honors, will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
