Cloise Weldon Reese, born on September 8th, 1935, in Groveton, TX, passed away in peace on Friday, March 11th, 2022 in San Antonio, TX at the age of 86 surrounded by loved ones. CW, as he was known, was born to Mattie & George Reese as the youngest of 6 children. CW lived a small-town life in Groveton, Texas until he tried to join the Marine Corps at the age of 16 to fight in the Korean War under the auspice that he was of legal age to join - but was discovered just before he was shipped off and sent home. He did not stay long back at home, as he then joined the Air Force as soon as he was of legal age, beginning his career at the age of 17. CW served in the Air Force for 20 years in Fire & Rescue, and then served another 20 years in Civil Service as the Fire Inspector at Randolph Air Force Base. After retiring from both the Military & Civil Service, CW was heavily involved in the VFW Post 8315 in Schertz, TX; wherehe served multiple and various times as Post Commander, District Commander and House Committee Chairman. He volunteered and was very involved in many activities & events; among his favorites being The Chili Cookoff, 4th of July Jubilee & Parade, and the Post Men's Breakfast.CW was very patriotic - he loved his country and served as much as he could his entire life. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, firearms, cooking & barbequing, and music & dancing. He also loved traveling, going to casinos and enjoyed adventures. He was likea big kid, and loved buying & playing with new gadgets, guns and cooking tools. CW was preceded in death by his parents Mattie & George Reese, his siblings Fae Chance, Roy Reese, Warren Reese, Coy Reese and Jim Reese, wife Peggy Ann Reese, and Stepson Alex Hale.He is survived by daughters Marshann Stanley, Deborra Roll (Mike), Sheila Elliott (Carl), Cathy Meloccaro (Gary), stepchildren Jeffrey Hale (Mandy) and Megan Nooney (Mike). He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren - all of whom he loved dearly. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 11th, 2022, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at the Schertz Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, April 12th, 2022, at 11:00 AM, at the Schertz Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 1:00 PM. Following the graveside service, a reception will be held at the Schertz VFW Post 8315 in the Stafford Hall.
