It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Christopher Alberto Torres (CJ), who departed this world on August 22, 2026, at the age of 24. Born on July 30, 2002, in Würzburg, Germany, Christopher was a beacon of hope and joy to all who knew him. His life, although far too short, was marked by a profound dedication to service, love for family, and an unyielding passion for the things he cherished. Christopher was the beloved son of Alberto Torres Jr. and Demonserrat Schwarz-Aboytes. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Alberto Torres Sr., his Aunt Maria B. Torres, his maternal great-grandfather, Jose Luis Lara Flores, and his Aunt Rosalba Aboytes Lara. He leaves behind a loving daughter, Xitlali M. Torres, who will carry forward his legacy of kindness and compassion. Christopher’s family was his cornerstone. He is survived by his devoted parents, his siblings Quetzalli D. Aboytes, Tristian J. Torres, Christian R. Torres, Francisco M. Sanchez-Aboytes, and Camila-Lois Sanchez-Aboytes, as well as his grandparents, Maria Esperanza Torres and Pedro and Maria Carmen Aboytes, Godparents Juan L. Aboytes and Leticia Vasquez (Baptismal), Armando and Rosalba Fuentes (First Communion/Confirmation). In addition, he was cherished by stepparents Francisco M. Sanchez, Linda Torres and Jeremy R. Schwarz. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will forever hold him in their hearts. A graduate of San Marcos High School in 2021, Christopher pursued his calling as a firefighter with the Live Oak Fire Department. His career was more than just a job to him; it was a testament to his unwavering commitment to helping others, whether through physical rescue, emotional support, or financial aid. His colleagues remember him as a dedicated and courageous firefighter, always ready to lend a helping hand. Beyond his professional life, Christopher was a man of many passions. He found joy in music, cooking, and skateboarding, and he possessed a unique talent for discovering hidden treasures in antiques. His zest for life and boundless curiosity inspired everyone around him.

 A visitation in Christopher's honor will be held on Wednesday, September 2nd at Schertz Funeral Home and Crematory, located at 2217 F.M. 3009, Schertz, TX 78154. Family visitation is scheduled from 4:00-5:00 pm, followed by open visitation from 5:00-8:00 pm, with a Rosary from 7:00-8:00 pm. Christopher’s life will be celebrated with a Funeral Mass and Burial on September 3rd at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 16075 North Evans Road, Selma, Texas 78154. Visitation will commence at 10:00 am, followed by the Funeral Mass and Burial at 11:00 am. 

Christopher Alberto Torres will be remembered not only for his bravery and dedication but also for the light and love he brought into the lives of everyone he met. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
