Christa E. G. Bugosh

September 27, 1935 — March 10, 2024

Schertz, Texas

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of our matriarch Christa Elly Gertrude Bugosh, 88, of Schertz TX early Sunday morning, 10 March 2024, due to complications of heart failure. Her 6 children and other family members were with her before she was called to join her dearly departed husband and family. Christa was born on 27 September 1935 in Ohrdruf, Germany to her loving parents Fritz & Paula Möller. Whether she was known as Mom, Oma, Christa, Chris or Mrs. Bugosh, her warm personality and kind spirit touched the lives of all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Christa overcame many challenges in her younger life, to include a serious car accident as a child, a long case of polio, World War II atrocities and a 200+ mile solo journey – all before adulthood. Christas’ parents and younger brother left Ohrdruf in 1950 to flee the communist governmentChrista stayed behind with her older brother and his family so she could graduate from school in the spring and take her diplomaA few months later when Christa left Ohrdruf and walked across the border, she came across a lady working in a field. The kind lady took her in overnight, gave her food and brought her to the train station the next day. She told Christa to act like they were family so as not to attract attention as she put her on the train. If it wasn’t for the kind German lady who helped her, who knows if any of the rest of her adventures and the new life she embraced would have turned out the same. There was an angel present with her on that long journey. Christa joined her father, mother and younger brother in Sandhausen where they lived for the next 2 years, after which her family moved to Mainz.

Christa and her husband, Bernard T. Bugosh USAF, met in Mainz, Germany while dancing at the Heiliggeist. They married the next year and together they raised 6 children (3 boys followed by 3 girls) while living in Germany, Ohio, California, Texas & Holland. They moved back to Schertz TX for the last time in 1981 and she was a Lone Oak neighborhood homeowner since 1969 (55 yrs).

Christa enjoyed traveling within the United States and Europe and specifically enjoyed learning about history. She was an avid reader, an excellent cook, enjoyed fishing and had a green thumb tending to her vegetable garden, flowers and lawn into her 80s. Christa loved music, dancing and having fun!!! Her smile was contagious and would light the room. She was a homemaker and her very favorite thing was family. She loved all of her extended family as well as her German family and her Pennsylvania rooted family from her husbands’ side. She welcomed all and never met a stranger.

Christa was very proud of her German heritage and spoke both languages until her passing but she was especially proud of earning her U.S. citizenship in May of 1972 and pledged her patriotic affection of America and gratitude for the blessed life she lived by being a great example of love and generosity in everything she did. Christa’s kind heart and loving soul will be deeply missed but never forgotten. May she rest in peace knowing that she was truly treasured by all who knew her.

Christa was preceded in death by loved ones who have now reunited with her in eternity. She joins her beloved husband, Bernard T. Bugosh who passed in 1991, her father Fritz Möller, mother Paula Faulstich Möller, brother Helmut Möller, brother Manfred Möller, infant sister Heidi Möller, and daughter-in-law Jacque Bugosh. She is survived by her son Carl Bugosh and his wife Linda of Garden Ridge TX, son John Bugosh of Cibolo TX, son Thomas Bugosh and wife Shirley of Cypress TX, daughter Jackie Paugh and husband Ed of Schertz TX, daughter Denise Hidalgo and husband Danny of New Braunfels TX and Daughter Paula Zeaiter and husband Hamad of Reston VA, adored grandchildren: Jason Bugosh, Benjamin Alexander, Coy Potts, Brandon Bugosh, Nicholas Hidalgo, Kevin Potts, Brian Hidalgo, Thomas Bugosh, Christalee Martin, Danielle Bonney, Lauren Bugosh, Levi Hidalgo, 11 great-grandchildren and countless beloved extended family members and friends.
