IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Catherine Walker
Gregory
March 23, 1948 – January 30, 2026
Catherine (Cathy) Walker Bean Gregory, “Grancy” to her grandchildren, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 30, 2026 at age 77 near San Antonio, Texas, after battling cancer for many years.
Cathy was born in Winchester, VA in 1948 to Catherine Reynolds Bean and Melton Randolph Bean. She was their second child and only daughter. Cathy was proud to be a Virginian, having grown up in Berryville, VA and later attended and graduated from Virginia Tech University. Cathy met Richard Gregory in Blacksburg, VA; they married and had two children. After their separation, Cathy spent time working in retail; although her favorite employment experience was her time working in sales at The Homestead in Hot Springs, VA.
When she wasn’t working, Cathy enjoyed her travels with family, specifically trips to Europe, Bermuda, and the North Carolina coast. She also enjoyed spending time with family and friends and hearing about their adventures and accomplishments in life.
Cathy deeply loved and was very proud of her two children and five grandchildren. She spent her final years in the San Antonio, TX area living close to her daughter. She will be missed dearly and loved forever.
Cathy is survived by her daughter Banner Gregory Huggins, son Hunter Reynolds Gregory, their spouses Craig and Sharon, her grandchildren Savannah Francis Gregory, Cole Huggins, Noah Reynolds Gregory, Cody Huggins, and Sophia Noelle Gregory, and her brother Joseph Herbert Bean II and his wife Nancy Bean.
Cathy was preceded in death by her parents Melton Randolph Bean and Catherine Reynolds Bean, and grandparents Joseph Herbert Bean, Addie Peters Bean, Emery Walker Reynolds, and Retta Rader Reynolds.
Per Cathy’s request, no memorial service will be held. She would ask anyone wanting to remember her to do so by enjoying dinner and fellowship with family and friends or treating themselves to a bouquet of lilies and tulips.
