Catherine was born in Pensacola, Florida to Margaret and Gene Augusto, who served in the US Navy. As a child they moved all over the United States. She spoke fondly of being stationed in Whidbey Island, Washington before moving to Stanford, Florida, where she graduated from Seminole High School in 1969. In 1981, Catherine married Wally Adolf in Atlanta, Georgia. With their 4 children, they moved to various places before settling in San Antonio, Texas, where Catherine continued to live after becoming a widow in 1992. In 1994, she met Fread Cielencki, Jr. (at of all places) Chuck E. Cheese, while attending a birthday party of a common friend of their children. A few years later the two bought a farm together and married on September 30, 2002, blending their two families together. Catherine worked as the records manager for SCUCISD until she retired in 2009.
Catherine was an amazing mother and wife. She was an accomplished seamstress, enjoyed traveling, fishing, genealogy and took great pride in her family and home. Catherine loved to cook and never let anyone leave hungry.
Catherine is survived by her husband Fread and their eight children: Ray and his wife Kristi, Daniel and his wife, Nicole and her husband Moose, Natalie and her husband Abe, Fread III and his wife Jaime, Jennifer and her husband BJ, daughters Helen and Linda, "adopted" son Ian and his wife Michelle, as well as their twelve grandchildren, who adored their Grannie.
Catherine lived her life to the fullest and her amazing energy was felt by everyone who met her. She will be missed.
A Visitation for Catherine will be held at Schertz Funeral Home on Sunday, February 27, 2022 from 12:00 - 4:00 PM.
