Carol J. Kern was born on a Sunday, December, 13th 1936 and went to her heavenly home on a Thursday, September, 25th 2025. She was 88 years old and had resided at her home in Universal City, TX for quite a number of happy years.
Carol was born in Rein, Louisiana to Lily Mae Ellis and Walter Leblanc. She eventually moved to Port Arthur, TX with her mother and attended Thomas Jefferson High School where she participated in sports and was a proud member of the school’s drum and bugle core. She was accepted into the prestigious Julliard School of Music but, chose instead to marry. Carol spent many years raising her four children, lifting her voice to the Lord in various church choirs, and often praying for others in need.
Carol is survived by her son, Steve Hock of New Braunfels, TX, her daughter Tammy Moreno of Logo Vista TX, 5 grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Kern, her eldest daughter Angelia Hock and her youngest son, Tony Hock.
A visitation will be held on Monday, October 13, 2025 at Schertz Funeral Home, beginning at 5 PM with the Recitation of the Holy Rosary to begin at 7 PM. The Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, October 14, 2025 at 11 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.
Following the conclusion of the Funeral Mass, there will be a short break, guest will then meet at Schertz Funeral Home at 1:15 PM, where we will then depart in procession shortly after to Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery for a 2:30 PM Committal Service.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations in her honor to Tunnel to Towers, St Joseph Indian School or The Salvation Army.
