December 9, 1945 – April 25, 2026
Mrs. Carol Sue (Sholts) Evernham has passed away in hospice care near family in San Antonio Texas on March 25, 2026, after several years of living with dementia/Alzheimer's disease. Mrs. Evernham was born in San Antonio, Texas and moved to Logansport, Indiana in 1968 where she lived with her late spouse Donel Evernham (d 2020) and relocated to Texas to be near family in her later years as of October 2022.
Carol Sue attended middle school and high school in Austin, Texas after parents' relocation to the area. She attended college at The University of Texas at El Paso and Austin campus where she studied accounting. She completed the last semesters needed for a degree after moving to Indiana through the University of Indiana at Kokomo campus. While happy for this accomplishment, she devoted the majority of her life to home life with her husband Donel. Carol Sue enjoyed homemaking, gardening, cooking, and observing outdoor birds that she fed regularly. She was an avid reader and enjoyed classic movies. In the years after Donel's retirement they enjoyed travel in the US and Canada, and Carol Sue kept journals and photos of every trip taken.
Mrs. Evernham is preceded in death by her spouse Donel Evernham, parents Alfred and Suenell Sholts and brother David J Sholts. She is survived by siblings Michael J Sholts of Denver CO, Judy Sholts Schmitz of Bastrop, TX and Melanie Sholts McKinley of Schertz, TX. She is also survived by nieces and nephews Timothy Wong, Joseph Coppola, Nicole Wong and Rebecca Schmitz-all Texas residents.
Carol Sue Evernham will be buried after cremation in Texas, at the Ever-Rest Memorial Park cemetery in Logansport, Indiana next to her spouse Donel Evernham.
