Carol J (Bruss) Byrne

January 9, 1955 — March 14, 2024

Carol J Byrne (nee Bruss), 69, of Seguin, TX, passed away Thursday, March 14, 2024 in Seguin, TX.

She was born Saturday, January 9, 1955, in Belleville IL, daughter of Kenneth and Rita Bruss, and had two siblings, Bob and Bonnie.

Carol graduated in 1973 from Belleville West HS in Belleville, IL. Growing up Carol enjoyed tap dance, even dancing on the Admiral Boat as it cruised the Mississippi river. She was a cheerleader and softball player, and took turns with her cousins caring for her grandma.

Carol met her husband John at the VFW outside Scott Air Force Base on a blind date. After they were married, Carol became a devoted military wife, moving around the country as John served in the Air Force . Carol was an amazing mother to their three children. She coached their sports teams, taught them to cook and sew, and passed on her passion for taking care of others.

Carol was a long time Civil Service employee for the United States Air Force, and retired after 29 years of outstanding service. Carol was an avid shopper, and knew how to find the best deals around town. She also enjoyed sewing, quilting and spoiling her kids and grandkids. Carol loved to garden, and despite the difficult Texas soil and heat, always had an amazing, lush garden full of fresh vegetables. You could find Carol listening to a good radio episode of crime shows, audio books or podcasts. She was a member of Cross of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Surviving Carol is her husband John, children Dr. Krysten (John) Bailey, of Seguin, TX, Monyca (Chris) Uecker of Maumee, OH, Bruce (Sunny) Byrne of Cibolo, TX, grandchildren Patrick (Esveiri) Byrne, Dustin (Lucia) Byrne, Kelsey Byrne, Luke Uecker, Allison Uecker, William Uecker, Ronan Byrne, Maeve Byrne, and great grandchildren Westyn Byrne-Haselhoff, and Remington Byrne-Haselhoff.
