Obituary

Carmen Lee

November 21, 1944 – October 10, 2026.

Carmen Lee, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away surrounded by the love of her family.

Born November 21, 1944, in Pleasanton, Texas, Carmen was the daughter of Beatrice Lopez and the late Felix Lopez. She married John Lee on November 28, 1969, in Savannah GA, beginning a marriage and partnership that spanned more than five decades.

John’s career as a U.S. Army pilot took their family throughout the United States and overseas. Carmen embraced those adventures, even chaperoning youth hostel trips in Germany. She and John loved traveling throughout their retirement, with memorable trips to Leavenworth, Washington; Port Aransas, Texas; Niagara Falls; Albuquerque, New Mexico; Washington, D.C.; San Diego, California; the Grand Canyon; Newport, Oregon, Italy and Ireland; and summers visiting extended family in Sparks, Nevada.

Carmen was a homemaker who devoted her life to her family. She volunteered at her children’s schools, attended countless sporting, theater and dance events, and always welcomed her children’s friends with a place at the table. A talented seamstress, she made clothing and costumes for her children and grandchildren and taught her daughter Tanya to cross-stitch. Her handmade Snow-White costumes for her granddaughters remain treasured family keepsakes that will be passed down to future generations. Her love of cooking for family was passed down to her children.

Carmen cherished family traditions, especially Christmas. Her rum cake, colorful pecan cookies, and Christmas Eve meatballs were family favorites, and her annual Hallmark ornaments will continue to decorate family trees. She loved hosting Easter egg decorating contests, where the grandchildren always won, despite John’s best efforts. Carmen also treasured visits to Morgan’s Wonderland with John, delighting in the rides and laughter of children.

Above all, Carmen treasured being a grandmother. She attended football games, soccer games, track and cross-country meets, science fairs, volleyball tournaments, theater performances, college graduations and many other milestones.

Carmen is survived by her husband, retired CW3 John Lee; children, Julie Fisher (Ed), Eddie Lee (Janice) and Tanya Frazier (Scott); grandchildren, Christopher Fisher (Tristin), Haleigh Fisher (Alec Miller), Ethan Frazier, Grace Frazier and Branden Lee; great-grandchildren, Sonia Fisher, Felix Fisher and Scarlett Miller; mother, Beatrice Lopez; brothers, Orlando Lopez (Karen) and Louis Lopez; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her father, Felix Lopez, and parents-in-law, Jack and Kathleen Lee.

Her family will miss her soft voice, kind words and gentle touch beyond measure, but the love she gave them—and the home, traditions and memories she created—will remain with them always.
