Carmen Nery Baylon Jaceldo, beloved wife, mother, Mama Ne, and Lola passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on December 27, 2022 in Universal City. She was born October 6, 1929 in Manila, Philippines to Gaspar and Josefa Nery Baylon. After completing her bachelor’s degree from University of Santo Tomas, she married her adoring husband, Teodorico H. Jaceldo (Ted) on May 3, 1951. They lived in Carigara, Leyte raising their children until Ted’s job took them to the United States in 1972. They eventually settled down in San Antonio, Texas where she would become an invaluable part of her community, especially her church community at Santo Nino Catholic Church. Her Catholic faith was of the utmost importance to her, which she expressed and modeled most profoundly in her prayerful life, and her vocation as a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Carmen is survived by her adoring husband of 71 years, Teodorico H Jaceldo; loving children Rene, Joanne (Bemboy), Karen (Bernard), Eugene, Ted (Kate), Raymond, and Caesar; grandchildren Paloma, Kobi, Cecilia, Elinor, Nico, Teo, and Ilima; sister Wilhelmina; 14 nieces and nephews around the world; and countless friends to whom she was friend, confidante, and Nanay.
She was preceded in death by parents Gaspar and Josefa, her siblings Virgilio, Raul, Noe, George, May, Pacita, Carlos, Gaspar Jr, Elizabeth and Belen, and son Nicky Boy.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a visitation on January 5 from 5:00 to 8:00pm at Schertz Funeral Home and Crematory. Funeral services will be held on January 6 at 12pm at Santo Nino Catholic Church followed by burial at Holy Cross Cemetery. Reception will follow at Santo Nino Parish Hall. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Santo Nino Catholic Church.
