Carl was born on October 7, 1932 in Rebecca, Ga. to Myrtle Stanford Paulk and Carlos Warren Paulk, He died peacefully at home on July 26, 2020, in Schertz, Texas, at the age of 87. Carl grew up with his siblings in Fitzgerald, Ga. and graduated from Fitzgerald High School. He was a proud patriot who served his country in the United States Air Force for 30 years. During that time, he was stationed all over the world in places such as England, Germany, France, Japan, and Thailand. In Japan he met and married his wife Noriko, and their family lived across the United States from Tinker AFB in Oklahoma, to Hickam AFB in Hawaii. They settled in Schertz, Tx where Carl eventually retired in1982 at the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. He enjoyed walks, weekly breakfasts, and playing pinochle at the Schertz VFW with longtime friends in his community. Carl is preceded in death by his son, Mark Paulk of Gadsden, Alabama. Carl leaves behind his wife Noriko, daughter Mona Paulk and son-in-law Greg Malmgren of Houston, Tx., daughter Misao Cates of Atlanta, Ga., and daughter Randi Karen Paulk of Marietta, Ga. He is survived by his sister Kay Braziel of Irwinville, Ga., and brother James Stanley Paulk of Valdosta, Ga., along with 2 grandchildren, Truly and Venture Cates, 3 granddogs, nieces and nephews.
Carl will be laid to rest at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery later this fall, date to be determined.
