Carl C. Douglas, age 84, of Schertz, Texas, passed away on Thursday, July 29, 2021. Carl was born in East Prairie, MO, on August 11, 1936, to parents, William and Hazel Douglas.
After graduating from Clayton High School in St. Louis, MO., he entered the United States Air Force, where he served his country from June 1954 to March 1982. During his career as a special agent, with the office of special investigations, he was stationed at Lackland Air Force Base, Scottfield, IL, Shimya, AK, Tachikawa, Offutt AFB, Kadena-Japan, Thailand/Vietnam, and Griffin AFB, NY. After retiring from the military, he was employed by McDonnell Douglas Corporation in St. Louis, MO.
In 1997, Carl and Marjorie relocated to Schertz, Texas, where he served on the City Council from 2000 to 2006. Carl was a member of Coker United Methodist Church where he taught several Bible and disciple courses. He was also a certified ombudsman for the State of Texas, functioning as an advocate for long term care residents. In 2006, Carl and his wife Marjorie, became certified lay ministers. They were assigned as co-pastors to Asbury United Methodist Church from 2008 to present time. Mr. & Mrs. Douglas provided assistance and preached at several United Methodist Churches.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, William and Hazel Douglas. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Marjorie; stepson, Kevin Van Hosh of Alpharetta, GA; sister, Dolores Svabo of Fernling, NV; his beloved Yorkies, Sugar and Honey; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Interment, featuring full United States Air Force honors, will be at 11:00AM on Friday, August 27, 2021 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery - Shelter 1.
