Captain (Ret.) Caesar Brewington, Jr.

January 9, 1953 — August 22, 2022

Captain (Retired) Caesar Augusta Brewington Jr., formerly of Dunn, North Carolina, peacefully entered eternal rest on August 22, 2022, in Schertz, Texas. Born January 9, 1953, he was the son of the late Caesar and Alice Brewington.

Caesar, affectionally known to many as “Cuz,” “Brother,” “Bruh,” “Uncle Bruh,” “Top Gun,” “The Snakeman,” “Nitro, or “The Mayor of Laura Heights,” graduated from Dunn High School in 1971. Upon graduation he attended North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (NC A&T), and later enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1973. Upon completion of enlisted military of service, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University in 1983 and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army. He served a career spanning over 20 years culminating with retirement in 1996. Throughout his Army career, Caesar received numerous professional and personal accolades to include becoming a 32nd Degree Prince Hall Mason while stationed in Germany.

Caesar was an avid fisherman, who mastered the art of finding time to pursue his passion on the Potomac River during “normal work hours” at Ft. Belvoir, VA prior to retiring. He was mechanically inclined and owned a small engine repair business for over 12 years. Caesar enjoyed motorcycling and served as the Program Director for the Motorcycle Safety Foundation Course located at Joint Base San Antonio, Texas for over 3 years. His competitive spirit, quick wit, and sense of humor will be dearly missed by the many lives he touched. Although Caesar’s voice is now silent, his kindness, generosity and wisdom will always be cherished by the many lives he touched.

In addition to his parents, his sister, Linda D. Washington, and brother, Wandell Brewington preceded him in death.

Captain (Retired) Brewington is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Nancy Whitfield Brewington; a daughter Shakisha Brewington of New Braunfels, Texas, a son, Raymond Whitfield, of France, two sisters, Mae Helen Brown and Barbara Harrington of Dunn, North Carolina, a brother, Everett Brewington of Erwin, North Carolina, three grandchildren, Pierre, Cordierre, and Skylar Wilson, two great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends throughout the world.
