Cameron Devaughn Saunders

Cameron Saunders, age 30, of Long Beach, California, passed away on June 15, 2024. He was born on March 22, 1994, in The Woodlands, Texas. Cameron graduated from East Central High School in San Antonio, TX and pursued higher studies at Texas State University. Soon thereafter, Cameron enlisted in the Navy where he proudly served for 11 years and achieved the rank of Petty Officer Second Class. He resumed his pursuit in advanced education as he attended the University of Maryland Global Campus to attain a degree in Cybersecurity.

Cameron was known for his dedication, both in his military career and in his personal pursuits. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his parents, Yolanda and Richard Hopewell, his brother Isaiah Hopewell, girlfriend Cyniya Hanes, special cousins Shavonne Dorsey and Lia Lockridge. He is survived by his grandmothers Delores Saunders and Lillian Hopewell. Uncles and Aunts Darrell Lockridge (Beth), Faron Lockridge (Dana), John Hopewell (Diane), Wendell Hopewell, Douglas Hopewell, Dorthea Hammond (Dwight), Lorri Foster (Brandon) and many cousins.

In his leisure time, Cameron found joy in video games, listening to music, and investing in crypto currency. He was an avid supporter of the Atlanta Falcons and the Houston Rockets, showing unwavering loyalty to his favorite sports teams.

Cameron will be remembered for his kindness, sense of humor, and his love for his family. His absence leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew him.

A memorial service to celebrate Cameron's life will be held on Friday, July 19, 2024 at 11 a.m. at the Resurrection Baptist Church located at 1002 Live Oak Road, Schertz, TX 78154. In lieu of flowers, plants will be appreciated.
