Buford Lee Purser

Buford L Purser (81), passed away on November 7^th 2023 at his home in Schertz, Tx. His family is deeply saddened by his unexpected death. Buford was born October 5^th, 1942.  He was born in Pueblo, Colorado to James and Lovana Purser. He was the middle child with 2 brothers James and Gary and a sister, Joyce. His father worked in the oil field, so in his childhood they moved around quite often, but as long as the family was together, they didn’t mind. They enjoyed the many adventures of the different places they got to explore. In 1961 he graduated from Guymon High School and went on to attend Oklahoma State University briefly where he played football.  In the early 70’s he kickstarted his career in Finance working for American Finance in Oklahoma, later moving to San Antonio where he worked for Key Management Co. for 40 years and retired. In his later years you could find him passing his time working to improve the land him and his family lived on, watching OU beat UT, or spending as much time as he could with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his beloved wife Yolanda (Garcia) of 49 years, and his children Lee, Scott, Robert, Cynthia and Alex; grandchildren, Justin, Arthur, Alexandria, Mia, Lauren, Sierra, Emery, Preston, Lily and Mark, Joshua, Annelese, Penelope; Great granddaughter Preslee; Siblings: Joyce, Gary (Jody), Maryann (sister-in-law); Siblings through marriage: Victor (Olga), Rosalinda (Victor), Martha (Joe), Nidia (Joe). As well as beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Proceeded in death by Father James Purser, Mother Lovana Purser (Crow), Brother Jim Purser and Son Bret Purser.  

Family and friends are welcome to attend a celebration of life, which will be held at The Schertz funeral home on November 15^th, 2023.

Visitation 3:00-4:00pm - Service starts at 4:00pm.

Buford will be missed by all. Life will not be the same, but we carry and cherish all the wonderful memories in our hearts until we are back together. God gained a wonderful Angel (Fly High) and thank you for the great memories you helped us create. We love you.
