Brian Scott Newquist

Brian Newquist, 41, passed away peacefully at his home in Selma, TX, on March 6, 2024.  

Brian was born September 24, 1982, in Omaha, NE, but was a long-time resident of the San Antonio area since 1992, when his family relocated here. He attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic School and then Antonian Preparatory Catholic High School, graduating in 2001. From there, he earned a degree in nursing from UT Health Science Center, with another certification in critical care nursing. Brian spent the majority of his career working in the hospital's Intensive Care Ministry. Several of his patients and their families have shared stories of his kindness and compassion in meeting their needs while under his care. His family will remember him for his sense of humor and generosity; his nieces and nephews, as Uncle Brian, the Cool, Bald Uncle. 

Brian is survived by his parents, Scott and Mary Newquist, his two sisters and brothers-in-law, Melinda and Brian Wise, and Jacqueline and Bret Machalek, and his nieces Isabella Wise, Emma and Kate Machalek, and nephews Tyler Wise and Jacob Machalek, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was welcomed into his forever home by our Heavenly Father, his grandparents and two cousins, TJ and Megan.  

Services for Brian will be held on Friday, April 12, 2024 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 16075 N Evans Rd, Selma, TX. Visitation begins at 10:00am with the Rosary to be recited at 10:30am, followed by Mass at 11:00. Interment to immediately follow at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cemetery #2. Family and friends are invited to a reception in the Pastoral Center after interment.
