Obituary

Brett Anthony Carter Heeres, 43, of St. Hedwig, passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2026.

Brett was born on November 21, 1982, to Keith and Susan Heeres at Wilford Hall on Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.

He was previously married to Lisa Wuest from 2000 to 2003, and to Leslie Rohmer from 2007 to 2016. Throughout his life, Brett had a passion for technology and worked in various IT roles. He was known for his kind heart, his love for animals, and the deep affection he held for his beloved Boxer, Sesame. Brett never met a stranger and cared deeply for those around him.

Some of Brett’s fondest childhood memories were of spending summers in Ellsworth, Michigan, with his grandmother, Marilyn Ferweda, alongside his sisters and cousins. Those memories remained close to his heart throughout his life.

Brett is survived by his parents, Keith (Terri) Heeres and Susan Heeres; his children and stepchildren, Brandon Heeres, Nikolaas Heeres, Abbey Heeres, Celeste Ratliff, and Brandon “Bubba” Ratliff; his sisters and step-siblings, Erin (Justin) Mire, Chantel (Brandon) Baker, Rick (Ashley) Schmidt, Jon Schmidt, Scott Schmidt, and Lindsey Schmidt; his grandmother, Marilyn Ferweda; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

No services will be held at this time. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made in Brett’s name to your local animal shelter.
