Beverly Ann Zweifel

February 25, 1958 — August 5, 2025

San Antonio, Texas

Beverly Ann Zweifel was born on February 25, 1958, in San Antonio, Texas and left us on August 5, 2025, in Schertz, Texas at the age of 67.

One of seven children, the sixth child and the first female, born to Albert and Evelyn Retzloff. She graduated from Judson High School in Converse in 1976 as did all her six siblings. She was a waitress in early adult life and worked as a Paralegal Secretary. She married Charles Henry Zweifel; “Zeke” to most of the family and they were married for 32 years. Beverly was able to enjoy early retirement in later years.

Beverly was a strong and independent minded person who enjoyed her privacy. She had compassion for others and civility in tone and interaction with all. She had a great sense of humor. She demonstrated her strength, compassion and love for others by providing a home for her Mother (Evelyn) during her most vulnerable years. Her love was always present in the hearts of those who know her.

In 1981 she married Charles Henry Zweifel, an Air Force veteran who served in the Vietnam Conflict. They were married for 32 years before the Lord recalled him to His service. Beverly was a loving wife standing faithfully by his side during the final years of his life as he courageously battled illness. She will be reunited with Zeke at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.

Beverly had a passion for cross stitch and created many masterpieces including several Alaska-themed pieces that will always be treasured. She was in her comfort zone and found relaxation doing cross stitch.

She was fond of destination gambling tours and demonstrated more “Lady Luck” than the Lady Luck Casino in Las Vegas, in addition to other casinos.

She was a fervent Judson High School football fan. Her fanatic enthusiasm (and Zeke’s), to coordinate playoff conquest trips to “The Rockpile” with her siblings exemplified the football team’s mantra of “We Believe”.

Beverly thought herself as a renowned food connoisseur. She had no issue in trying new foods or other restaurants as long as it was either: Bill Millers BBQ, Ables Café, Sea Island or Mexican food.

Beverly joins her husband Zeke, parents Albert and Evelyn Retzloff and brother Dennis in Heaven. She is survived by five siblings, Larry Retzloff (Ronnie Ruth Retzloff), Leonard Retzloff, Curtis Retzloff (Petra Retzloff), Harold Retzloff (Debra Numer Retzloff) and Mary Schroeder (Stuart Schroeder) and stepson Michael Allen Zweifel (Raylynn Zweifel).

Beverly was deeply devoted to her grandchildren, Michael Zweifel Jr. (Ashlee Anderson Zweifel), Cathern Zweifel Creer (Austin Creer), Nicolas Zweifel (Sarah Brotman Zweifel and Thomas Zweifel and great-grandchildren—Raymond, Rosella, Theodore and Benedict.

Many thanks to Beverly’s siblings, Stepson Michael Zweifel, nieces and nephews and cousins, for their support during this time to lay Beverly to rest. A Wake at 1 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life at 2 p.m. will be held on Saturday August 23rd at Shertz Funeral Home and Crematory. A “Dutch Treat” meal will follow the Celebration of Life at La Tortillita Mexican restaurant (one of Beverly’s go-to spots) located at 650 W. FM 78, Cibolo, TX 78108.
