Betty Ruth Ellis

Betty Ruth Ellis, 91, of Cibolo, Texas, passed away on June 22, 2026. Betty was born at home on October 28, 1934, in Logan County, OK to Mary Etta (Dickson) Park and Henry Griffeth Park. Betty married Claybourne Paul "Clay" Ellis, a retired member of the United States Air Force in 1955. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and home.

Betty's life was defined by quiet strength, faith, and love for family. Although Betty spent her final year in Cibolo, she was a longtime resident of Schertz, where she built lasting friendships and faithfully worshipped with her church family. During her time at The Brooks of Cibolo, Betty formed meaningful friendships with fellow residents and was deeply appreciated by the staff who cared for her.

Betty had a lifelong love of creating with her hands. She was an avid quilter and seamstress and continued sewing for as long as her hands would allow. Even as rheumatoid arthritis made things increasingly difficult, Betty faced that challenge with quiet determination and refused to let it take her joy away. She also found happiness tending to her many plants, reading a good book, and spending time with her beloved cat, Marigold, curled up beside her on a quilt.

Betty began her career as a telephone operator with Ma Bell. After moving to Texas, she worked in administration for Methodist Health and later at Riedel's before retiring.

Betty lived a life marked by faith, perseverance, and kindness. Whether caring for her home, stitching another quilt, nurturing her garden or surrounded by friends, she found joy in life's simple blessings. She leaves behind many who will remember her with affection and gratitude.

Betty is survived by her brother, Robert Henry and wife Alyce Park of Kansas, son-in-law Bill Walls of Missouri, sister-in-law Vinita Park of Oklahoma and former daughter-in-law Karen Ellis of Belton, TX.

Betty will be missed by grandsons Nicholas and wife Emily Ellis of Galveston, Steven Ellis of Valley Mills, TX, and Bill Walls Ill of Missouri, granddaughters Chelsea (Walls) Rodriguez of Missouri, Kelli (Walls) Deen and husband Jaron of Missouri. She will also be missed by her treasured great-grandchildren: William, Oliver, and Evelyn Rodriguez; Ellisyn, Marshall, and Josie Deen, and Hudson Stone Ellis and Harper Wayne Ellis.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Clay, in 2013; her sister, Wilma Gaye Ellis, who died in infancy; her brother, William Luther Ellis; her son, Kevin Wayne Ellis; and her daughter, Paula Gay Walls.

Services will be held on July 9, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at Schertz Funeral Home, 2217 FM 3009, Schertz, TX 78154 with interment to follow at 1:30 p.m. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.

Betty's friends and family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the caregivers at The Brooks of Cibolo Memory Care Unit and to the Foundations Hospice team. Their kindness, patience, compassion, and unwavering dedication allowed Betty to spend her final days surrounded by dignity, comfort, and genuine love. The family will always be grateful for the extraordinary care they provided.
