Betty Knodel

March 29, 1940 — May 4, 2022

Betty Viola Knodel was a beloved grandmother, mother, wife, sister, and friend during her incredible 82 years of life. She passed from this earth on May 4, 2022, to be with her Heavenly Father after her battle with Alzheimer’s. Betty was a founding member of Calvary Temple Church in San Antonio. Her Faith in Christ and her servant’s heart was an essential part of her life.

Betty is survived by her husband of 61 years, Allen J. Knodel.  Also by daughter Linda Lee and husband, Terry; daughter Diane Wellman; and four grandchildren that delighted her heart, Tina Klepac and husband Brad, Melanie Donelson and husband, Christopher, Hannah Wellman, and Coby Wellman.  Betty was also blessed with two great-grandchildren, Kelsey Sue Klepac and Benjamin James Donelson.

Betty was also survived by her sister, Mary Louise Plant (Wes), sister, Roberta Jones, and brother, Leroy McCulloch.  Betty was survived by her brother-in-law, Herman Knodel (Betty). She was survived also by many wonderful nieces, nephews, and cousins.  Betty was preceded in death by her father and mother, Robert and Myrtle McCulloch, brother-in-law, Jack Jones, and sister-in-law, Sharon McCulloch. Betty was also preceded by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Maurice and Annie Pearl Nutt, Ernest and Maxine Knodel, Johnny and Lanell Herzig, and Milton and Lillie Wessels.

Betty was born in Seguin, Texas, on March 29, 1940, to Robert and Myrtle McCulloch. She graduated from Seguin High School in 1958. Betty and Allen met at church and were married on January 14, 1961, in Seguin, Texas. Betty was a devoted wife, mother, and grandma. Everyone knew Betty loved her family and always wanted them to be together.  Betty always had to make sure everyone was served before she could sit down; she had a servant’s heart.  All her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She always shared their pictures with whomever she could.

Betty will be remembered for her loving nature, her kind heart, and her passion for Christ. She was always ready to help. She will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Betty will forever be in our hearts.

The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to the staff at Carol Ann’s Home, family, friends, and church members who have surrounded us with love, kindness, and prayers throughout Betty’s illness.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Sunday, May 15, 2022, at 2:30 PM at CT Church (Calvary Temple A/G), 14335 O’Connor Road, San Antonio, Texas, 78247.  A reception will follow in the church’s family life center.  Burial will be private under the direction of Schertz Funeral Home.
