Bertie Brashears

March 5, 1925 — September 3, 2008

Eudora (Sissy) Brashears was born in 1925 in Dot, Texas, close to Mooreville, a small farming community just outside Waco. A child of the great depression, she understood the need for sharing and compassion in regards to her family, loved ones, as well as her many friends. For her entire life on this imperfect earth, she practiced precisely what she preached. She had the face of an angel and a heart of gold. Sissy passed on to her Lord and Savior, in New Braunfels, Texas " her home for many years " on Wednesday, September 3, 2008. Eudora was a steadfast, loyal, and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother: her striking outer beauty surpassed only by her loving, gracious, warm, and unselfish heart. Her friends and family know very well that she was as close to perfect as any one woman could possibly be. If an unassuming, simple, gentle, pleasant, and kind person could ever be called great, it would be her. She will be missed beyond description. Sissy, as her friends and family liked to call her, was preceded in death by her mother Lena belle Cooper, her father, James Len Taylor, her husband, William Carl Brashears, Jr., sisters Lena Lorraine Hunke, Betty Jean Krula, nephews Cecil Ellis, Gary Meier, and niece Judy Miller. Sissy is survived by her son Robert and wife Barbara Ann of Angel Fire, New Mexico, daughters Billie Carol Alvarez of Schertz, Texas, Becky Jean Brashears of New Braunfels, Texas, granddaughter Tracy Nicole Nixon of Schertz, Texas, grandsons David Brashears of Orlando, Florida, Sean Alvarez and wife Christie of Schertz, Texas, John Bradley Bernard of Austin, Texas, granddaughters Bobbie Kaye Roberts and husband Robbie of Woodway, Texas, nephews, Brooks, Richard, and Kent Ellis of Austin, Texas, niece Susie Branch of Waco, sister Janie Waldrop of Waco, and great grandsons Jacob Michael Nixon, 6, of Schertz, Texas, Donovan Lee Brashears, 5, of Orlando, Florida, and Harlan Cole Roberts, 3, of Woodway, Texas. Eudoras spirituality toward her God and his son Jesus Christ is unparalleled, and she has now passed for all time through the gates of Heaven to be with her Lord and Savior, her family, her many loved ones, and her abundance of devoted friends. Graveside services will be held at Ft. Sam Houston Military Cemetery, downtown San Antonio, alongside her late husband and decorated World War II veteran, Bill Brashears. Graveside services will be Tuesday, September 9th at 10:00 AM. Donations should be made to PETA.
