Benita Macias Gartz, born on April 2, 1935, was a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who gracefully walked this earth for 90 remarkable years. She peacefully passed away on May 1, 2025, after battling the complications of Alzheimer’s.
Benita's legacy lives on through her beloved children, Randy Gartz and Corinna Bouressa, who carry forward her values and love, along with their joyous families. She was the proud grandmother of 8 and the adoring great-grandmother to 13, each grandchild holding a special place in her heart.
A twin to Mary Trujillo, she shared a bond that transcended words, and she will be deeply missed by her other sister, Margie Yanuzzi, and her brother, Esquiel Macias, Jr. Together, they formed a family rooted in love, unity, and laughter.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate her life during a visitation in the Schertz Funeral Home Chapel, Thursday May 29, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, located at 2217 FM 3009, Schertz, TX 78154.
Following the visitation, a procession will take place leading to Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery for a gravesite service beginning at 12:30 PM, located at 17501 Nacogdoches Rd., San Antonio, TX 78266.
As we gather to honor Benita's memory, we remember her warmth, wisdom, and the indelible impact she had on all who knew her. She will forever remain in our hearts, a guiding light of love and strength.
