Barbara Stanhope

April 30, 1934 — July 16, 2021

Former resident of Schertz passed away July 16, 2021 in California. Born April 30, 1934 on the family farm near North Freedom Wisconsin to Glen R. and Selma L. Waddell. She married Raymond E. Stanhope and had four children Glynn, Raymond, Charlotte, and Jay. Preceded in death by her husband, grandson Joshua Lelle, son-in-law John Albers. Survived by her children, in-laws Cecilia, Tina and Peter, beloved grandchildren Ryan, Brittany, Lorinda, Jeni, Reka and Kera, her great grandsons Cash, Jaxon and William, sister Jeanette Pfeil, brothers Rolland and Gene and numerous nieces and nephews.

Served on the Schertz city council for years and worked tirelessly for various civic and religious organizations in the area. She worked civil service at Randolph AFB and Fort Sam Houston before retiring as a GS-11. She was proud of the twenty two years her husband served in the USAF and loved members of her military family.

Barbara’s ashes will be interred at Holy Cross Cemetery on October 23, 2021 at 10 AM to be attended by family and invited friends. There will be a celebration of life at the Schertz Community Center from 12-2 for those wishing to remember Barbara with her family.
