Barbara Ann
Fincke
Jul 27, 1940 — May 20, 2026
Barbara Ann Fincke was a strong, faithful, resilient, talented, and deeply loving woman whose life left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Born July 27, 1940 in Lockesburg, Arkansas, her family moved to Texas when she was young. She grew up in San Antonio, earning her cosmetology certificate from San Antonio Vocational and Technical Senior High School in 1958, and dedicated 45 years to her craft. She owned and managed salons in both Texas and Tennessee, known for her remarkable talent in color correction and hair design. She had a special gift for helping women feel beautiful, confident, and cared for.
Her talents extended far beyond the salon. She was a gifted seamstress, talented cook, avid gardener, and someone who never hesitated to tackle a home project alongside those she loved. She carried herself with both strength and grace and approached life with determination, humor, and unwavering devotion to her family.
She loved music, travel, and time spent with family and friends. An avid bowler for many years, she enjoyed leagues at Wonder Bowl and Astro Bowl in San Antonio.
More than anything, she adored being “Nanaw,” and her grandchildren and great-grandchild were among the greatest blessings of her life. She was a constant source of encouragement, faith, love, and support to the people fortunate enough to call her theirs.
She also shared a beautiful 35-year marriage with her beloved husband, Gus (“Papaw”), rooted in friendship, loyalty, laughter, and steadfast love.
Her faith was the foundation of her life. She attended Redemption Church in Knoxville during her years in Tennessee and remained a faithful online viewer each Sunday after moving to Texas. She fulfilled a lifelong dream by traveling to Israel, where she renewed her commitment to the Lord through baptism in the Jordan River.
She is now reunited with her parents, David and Betty Ruth Conatser, brother Richard Conatser, her beloved Gus (Julius Fincke), and stepson Brett Fincke. Her love lives on through her daughter Leslie Loveday, son Phillip Loveday (wife Kathy), stepson Bart Fincke (wife Shannon), stepdaughter Julie Halverson, her grandchildren Kyle Loveday, Valerie Moreno, Tiffanie Loveday, Faith Loveday, and great-grandson Noah Moreno, and brother Roger Conatser (wife Gail.)
She leaves behind a family who loved her beyond words and a legacy of faith, strength, resilience, and unconditional love that will continue for generations.
