Aurora Rodriguez

September 29, 1927 — September 17, 2020

Aurora Rodriguez was called home to the Lord on September 17 th .  She was preceded in death by her husband Jose E. Rodriguez.  She is survived by her children, Jose E. Rodriguez (Peggy), Maria A. Luna (Robert), Nelda Wohl (Douglas), 9 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and relatives.  Aurora was an active member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church for 40 years.  She was a member of the Ladies Alter Society, was chairperson of the Art and Environment Committee in the 70’s and 80’s, served as president of the Family Services, and was a member of Beta Sigma Phi for over 35 years.  Aurora organized a quilting club at Good Shepherd which still meets to this day.  She learned to sew from her mother.  She was extremely talented in design and could replicate pictures into crochet form.  She created beautiful costumes for family and friends.  She made wonderful decorations for her home and for the church.  Her talents were self-taught, and she learned from her experience working in the floral business.  Her talents expanded to painting as well as she gifted many of her works to family and friends.

Aurora accompanied her husband throughout his Air Force career.  While stationed in Europe, she had the opportunity to travel.  She reveled in her trips to Rome and Spain.  Aurora had the fortune to have her mother, Dolores Portugal, join her on trips to Fatima, Mexico, and Holland.  She also traveled through the USA with her sister and brother-in-law, Lely and Alfonso Garza, as well as many friends.  Her good companions also journeyed with her to many casino trips.  Mom will be missed by family and friends.  Rest in peace.
