Art Penaloza was born on July 31, 1949 in San Antonio, Texas to Joe and Mary (Saenz) Penaloza.
He is survived by wife Barbara of 52 years, son Wes (wife Amanda), daughter Kristy (husband Rob), grandchildren Kayla, Derek, and Cara, great grandchildren Carter and Andrew, siblings Marty (wife Essie), Betty (partner John), Tony (wife Angie), along with many in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Joe.
Art was jovial, full of life, and had never met a stranger. He will always be remembered for his embellished storytelling, quick wit, and contagious laughter.
His outgoing and amazing personality was a natural fit for the advertising industry where he started his Outdoor Advertising company in the 1980’s. Art and his Son later partnered up and built many different companies that are in operation today.
As a young man he competed with friends in sporting events and tournaments. He loved bowling, hunting, golf, fishing, and watching the Astros play.
He loved his family and could always be found at their recitals, games, and events. He will be dearly missed.
A Visitation will be held at Schertz Funeral Home on Monday, July 17, 2023 from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM, with a Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 PM. The Funeral Mass will be held the following day, Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Selma, TX.
