Arlene G. Walker
November 8, 1939 – September 4, 2025
Arlene passed away peacefully in her sleep spending her final day on earth with her husband by her side. Arlene grew up on a family farm in Fratt, TX on the NE part of San Antonio where the city of Windcrest is now located. She was full of life and took advantage of her days doing the things she loved, all of which centered around her family. She loved to swim, go boating, fish, bowl, shop (and more shopping), play various card and dice games, and gamble – scratching lotto tickets and taking occasion trips to local casinos hoping one would land her a beautiful home on Lake LBJ. As a Christian, having accepted Christ Jesus as her Savior, she now resides in a majestic home – one beyond her wildest imagination. Arlene’s husband and family look forward to one day joining her in heaven.
Arlene met her future husband when she was only 16. Their first date was a trip to Playland Park. They were married on May 4, 1957. That must have been some roller coaster ride - as of this past May, Arlene and Wilton celebrated 68 years of marriage. She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Wilton Walker, and their children: Tim (Stacey) Walker, Darrell Walker, and Debby (Eddie) Lipinski. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, including Trey (Kristan) Lipinski, Amanda Lipinski, Brittany (Matt) Mahan, Kimberly (Paul) Fuller, Bryan (Katie) Walker, and Hannah Walker. Great-grandchildren include Blake, Chase, Chloe, Skylin, Lexee, Reagan, Brylee, Wyatt, Eli, Emma, and Baby Lipinski.
Arlene graduated from Mac Arthur Highschool, formally named Northeast Highschool. Her three children also graduated from the same school. Over the years, she kept in close contact with her high school friends. Arlene’s career began in banking – a teller at Frost Bank. She worked various other jobs throughout her years in the workforce, mostly involving bookkeeping, a passion of hers. Her last job was working as a bookkeeper for her youngest son who, at the time, operated a small delivery business.
Arlene was devoted to her husband and family. Her life revolved around others, and she kept as close to their lives as she could. Birthdays and holiday celebrations were important to her, especially Christmas.
In her later years, her health began to fail resulting in injuries from falls and other events stemming from her battle with chronic diabetes. One battle resulted in a near death experience, followed by days on a ventilator. She recalled, after her recovery, a memory of a vision/message from God “Arlene, I am not ready for you.” The cycle of hospitalizations followed by weeks of rehab continued for several years. Arlene was a fighter, doing whatever was necessary to rehabilitate so that she could get back home to her family. Just a couple days from her most recent “win”, Arlene received another message from God - “I am now ready for you, come to your eternal home, my daughter.”
