Annie Toves Castro, 80, of Cibolo, Texas, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 4, 2026.
Annie was born on March 26, 1946, in Santa Rita, Guam, to Jose Wesley Toves and Amalia Santos Toves. She graduated from George Washington High School in Santa Rita and, on December 4, 1965, married the love of her life, Ramon Castro. Together, they recently celebrated 60 beautiful years of marriage—a testament to their enduring love and devotion.
Annie truly believed in the strength and love of family. Her siblings were incredibly important to her, and she spoke of them often with deep affection. She instilled that same devotion in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, leading by her own wonderful example. A devoted homemaker and a hobbyist party caterer extraordinaire, Annie was also known as the world’s best wife, mom, grandma, great-grandma, and auntie.
She found great joy in cooking and baking, planning family gatherings and celebrations, and cheering on the San Antonio Spurs. A woman of deep faith, she was a devoted member of the Catholic Church. Annie’s vibrant personality shone through in her humor and creativity—she was even known as a nursery rhyme free-stylist and rapper, bringing laughter and joy to those around her.
She was a generous and giving person who freely offered her time and kindness to others, never expecting anything in return. Through her life, she showed us how to love, how to laugh, and how to create beautiful, lasting memories. Up until her final hours, she continued to remind her loved ones to take care of themselves so they could take care of one another. She was always loving, always caring. She will be deeply missed, and her family will carry her lessons forward, striving to make her proud.
Annie is survived by her beloved husband, Ramon Castro; her six children and their families; 17 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren:Jennifer and Chris Dague, and their children and grandchildren—Donovan; Victoria and her children Harleen and Malikai; Nicole and Logan Floyd and their children Brooklyn, Kamdyn, Phoenix, Milani, Paris, and Cairo.Kent and Karen Castro, and their children Michael, Marlon, and Madeline.Michelle and Chris Lamprecht, and their son Daryk.Ray and Valerie Castro, and their children Olivia, Dimitri and his wife Lauren.Joann and Dan Wright, and their children Christian, Brandon, Ethan, and Henry.Magan and Jon Hernandez, and their children Syrus, Elijah, Aubri, and Zoey.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2026, from 10:15 a.m. to 10:35 a.m. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will follow at Schertz Funeral Home, 2217 FM 3009, Schertz, Texas 78154.
