Obituary

Anne Maupin Ford, age 69, was born on August 13, 1957, at Brooke Army Hospital in San Antonio, Texas, and went home to her Lord and Savior on October 9, 2026, in Spring Branch, Texas

Anne lived with an adventurous spirit, a warm heart, and a deep devotion to her family. At Samuel Clemens High School, she participated in track and field, basketball, and drill team, carrying that energy and determination into every chapter of her life.

Anne married Michael S. Hutson in 1973 and welcomed her children at ages 16 and 18. As a young wife and mother, she devoted herself to creating a beautiful life for her children while embracing all that life had to offer.

In her twenties, Anne became an entrepreneur, owning her first business, The Frontier Ice House, in Schertz, Texas. She married Homer Dean Ford, with whom she shared more than 25 years of marriage. Anne loved sitting by the fire while Dean strummed his guitar and sang Merle Haggard songs.

In her thirties, Anne returned to college, graduated at the top of her class, and earned her nursing degree. She proudly served as a registered nurse for over 30 years, caring for those in need with compassion and dedication until retiring at age 65.

For the last 16 years, Anne shared her life with her love, Kyle Rathburn. Together, they enjoyed wonderful trips and adventures, creating treasured memories along the way. Throughout her fight with cancer, Kyle remained lovingly by her side, offering comfort, strength, and unwavering devotion.

Affectionately known as “Granny Annie,” Anne found her greatest joy in her children and grandchildren. She treasured family visits, shared meals, laughter, stories, fishing and camping trips, and singing around the campfire. A free spirit at heart, she brought her own colorful touch to life, creating moments her family will cherish and remember forever.

Her favorite fishing and camping spot was Rebecca Creek, lovingly known to the family as “Cypress.” The big cypress tree, the rope swing, and the clear spring waters formed the backdrop of many cherished childhood memories. Since 1970, the Maupin and Hutson families had called the creek their second home. In the 1990s, Anne made it her permanent home, building a house there that brought her tremendous pride. The love she poured into those days at the creek will remain a lasting part of her family’s story.

Anne was preceded in death by her father, Charles Presley Maupin; her mother, Rachel Eleanor Maupin; and her husband, Homer Dean Ford.

She is survived by her spouse, Kyle Rathburn; her children, Angelia Michelle Glasscock and her husband, David, and Michael Andrew Hutson and his wife, Oraphan; her grandchildren, Brett Taylor Glasscock, Eric David Glasscock, Alexis Starr Erickson and her husband, Junyor, Jason Hutson, and Tristan Hutson; three great-grandchildren; her brothers, Mike Maupin and his wife, Liz, and John B. Maupin and his wife, Vickie; and many nieces and nephews.

Anne will be remembered for her adventurous, fun-loving spirit, her warm heart, and her deep love for her family. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched, the quiet prayers she offered even when no one heard them, and the love she so freely shared.

A visitation will be held for Anne Maupin Ford on Tuesday, October 27, 2026 at Schertz Funeral Home, beginning at 11:30 AM. A short service will begin at 12:30 PM. Following the service, a Graveside Service will be held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 2:00 PM.
